Our Story: A Decade of Mediterranean Maritime Excellence

From catamaran delivery specialists to a comprehensive crew and delivery service across the Mediterranean.
Built on experience, trust, and 100,000+ nautical miles.

How Captains and Crew Began

From Catamaran Delivery to Full-Service Maritime Professionals

In 2014, Captains and Crew started with a straightforward mission: provide reliable, professional crew to support Mediterranean yacht operations. What began with delivering new catamarans from Lagoon and Nautitech shipyards evolved into a comprehensive service trusted by charter companies and private yacht owners across the region.

Our founder, with over a decade of professional sailing experience and holding qualifications as Ufficiale di Navigazione del Diporto and RYA Yachtmaster, recognized a persistent gap in the charter industry. While boats became more sophisticated and client expectations grew, finding consistently professional, reliable crew remained challenging. Charter companies needed more than just qualified sailors—they needed maritime professionals who understood hospitality, safety management, and the operational realities of commercial sailing.

That observation became our foundation. We built Captains and Crew on the principle that professional maritime services require both technical competence and operational excellence—not one or the other.

What Defines Captains and Crew

A decade of Mediterranean maritime operations has taught us what truly matters in professional yacht services. We’re not a corporate agency managing crew from offices—we’re active maritime professionals who continue to navigate, deliver, and skipper alongside the crew we place and train.

🧭 Operational Experience

Every member of our core team holds active maritime qualifications and continues sailing professionally. We understand charter operations, delivery challenges, and crew realities because we live them daily—not theoretically from shore.

⚓ Long-Term Relationships

Our partnerships with charter companies and yacht manufacturers span years, not seasons. We prioritize sustainable relationships over short-term placements, ensuring consistent quality and mutual trust with all parties.

🎯 Practical Standards

We assess crew on what genuinely matters in charter and delivery work: safety management, guest relations, vessel maintenance, and professional conduct—not just paper qualifications. Experience counts more than certificates alone.

Our Approach to Professional Maritime Services

We built Captains and Crew around a simple conviction: professional yacht services should be provided by people who actually sail professionally. This isn’t complicated philosophy—it’s practical reality.

Charter companies don’t need agencies promising perfect crew; they need partners who understand that a skipper’s real value shows during the third consecutive turnaround of peak season, when equipment fails mid-passage, or when nervous clients need confident reassurance in rough conditions. That knowledge comes from experience, not course certificates.

Similarly, yacht owners arranging delivery don’t primarily want impressive CVs—they want their boat to arrive safely, on schedule, and properly maintained. They want professionals who know when to wait for weather, how to handle unexpected technical issues, and who communicate honestly about challenges rather than making excuses afterward.

This operational perspective defines everything we do. We select crew based on demonstrated capability in real conditions. We train sailors using actual passages, not just harbor circuits. We maintain equipment ourselves and understand what charter operations genuinely require. We’re maritime professionals first, running a service business second—never the reverse.
