Professional Skipper and Hostess Training – Mediterranean Charter Careers
Everything is ready – on October 16th in Cannigione, our new post-Covid professional skipper and hostess courses begin. These intensive training programs are designed for those who want to learn, challenge themselves, and develop professional sailing skills in the waters around the Bonifacio Straits with our experienced instructors Ugo, Sabina, Alessandro and Cristian.
After nearly 10 years of operation, we’ve developed a comprehensive two-level program specifically designed to prepare charter skippers and hostess crew for the Mediterranean sailing industry. Our training combines practical seamanship with the specific skills needed for professional yacht charter operations.
Level 1 Skipper Course: October 16-31
Dedicated to those with limited sailing experience who want to significantly develop their skills through an intensive and demanding course. This foundational program covers:
- Principles of dead reckoning navigation and practical application
- Essential boat handling maneuvers for charter operations
- Anchoring techniques in Mediterranean conditions
- Marina approaches and docking procedures
- Onboard safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Guest interaction and communication basics
- Weather interpretation for safe sailing decisions
This course provides the foundation needed for skippered charter work and prepares students for Level 2 advanced training.
Level 2 Advanced Skipper Course: October 28 – November 11
For those who have successfully completed Level 1 or already possess extensive sea experience and want to enhance their competence and professional seamanship. This advanced program focuses on developing the specific skills required to enter the professional charter skipper workforce.
The curriculum includes advanced boat handling, complex weather routing, guest management, emergency response, and the business aspects of charter operations. This course also serves as a selection process for new team members for our 2022 charter season crew placement.
Charter Hostess Training Course: October 28 – November 4
Located in Cannigione, this specialized program is designed for those who have previous experience in hospitality and want to refine their knowledge and capabilities for professional yacht charter work.
The course includes real-world practical sessions during the skipper course, where hostess trainees work as integrated crew members, gaining authentic experience in:
- Guest service excellence in marine environments
- Galley management and meal planning
- Interior yacht maintenance standards
- Safety procedures and crew coordination
- Problem-solving in charter situations
